Insul-Bead Corporation was started in 1967 in the northwest corner of Arkansas. This is the same area that spawned such company giants as Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods and J.B. Hunt Transport. Insul-Bead’s initial product line was expanded polystyrene foam.
A young Brent Cannon found employment with the company as a production worker in 1979. Just twelve years later, Brent and Rhonda bought the company from its previous owners. This entrepreneurial spirit has led the company forward.
In 1997 the company had expanded beyond its present location and an additional ten-acre facility was purchased to allow growth in both the expanded polystyrene business and the foam filling of encapsulated float drums.
By 1999 another seven acres were added for the construction of a new state-of-the-art rotational molding plant. This allowed the company to manufacture float drum shells and lift tanks for the marine industry.
The year 2007 found the company expanding yet again with another large building to house additional molding space and product staging area. Office remodeling and product display areas are also being completed.
The future remains unwritten but as in the past, it will be driven with a response to customer needs and requirements.
